Falls County Commissioners approve ongoing decisions
Falls County Commissioners Court met at the County Courthouse on March 24 with County Judge Jay Elliott presiding. Commissioners present were Milton Albright (Pct. 1), F.A. Green (Pct. 2), Jason Willberg (Pct. 3) and Nita Wuebker (Pct. 4). ADA Steve Sharp was in attendance.
As part of the Elected Officials report, Sheriff Campbell reported the replacement of the 911 consoles. Laundering appliances for the jail were purchased.
Commissioners approved several agenda items including the road cut/bores for NextLink Fiber installations, and the $20,000 subsidy paid by Falls County to the Volunteer Fire Fighters Association for emergency services provided to Falls County citizens.
The requested amount is for distribution to six departments. The number of EMS calls has increased, but the number of fires decreased.
The also accepted a gift from the Marlin Lions Club which includes planting flowers and maintaining a designated portion of the landscape.
In other matters, Commissioners approved the bonding of Georgie Patterson, County Auditor and Sandra Weathers, ESD #1. Commissioner Albright moved to accept the TexSTAR resolution, seconded by Commissioner Wuebker, the motion carried. The resolution approves the investment of County funds jointly with other Texas local governments in the Texas Short erm Reserve Program.
By way of the Investment report prepared by County Treasurer, Sheryl Pringle, the Commissioners agreed to renew the Certificate of Deposits for two County investments. Commissioner Green moved the approval reimbursement of SB 22 Sheriff Grants funds. Seconded by Commissioner Albright, the motion carried.
The Commissioners approved the request for $5,000 funding of the Operation & Maintenance on the Cow Bayou watershed structure provided by Falls County. Commissioner Willberg moved to allow landowners to construct and maintain an unlocked gate on CR 409C. Seconded by Commissioner Green, the motion carried. Upon delivery, Commissioners approved the payment for two Caterpillar motor graders.
Commissioners approved the BT Yixon Solar, LLC project Road Use Agreement to prevent degradation of county-maintained roads. A meeting is scheduled with the company and designated Commissioners regarding concerns. Jeff Jackson, Road & Bridge Administrator, reported major rebuilt repairs to be completed. Funds from the auction will go back as an R & B line item. A meeting with pipeline contractors is scheduled.
Commissioner Albright moved to approve the payment of bills, budget amendments and payroll. Seconded by Commissioner Green, the motion carried. The upcoming Commissioners’ meeting is Monday, April 14, at 9 a.m.
