Falls County Commissioners discuss several topics

The Falls County Commissioners Court met at the County Courthouse in Marlin on Monday, Nov. 27, with County Judge Jay Elliott presiding. Commissioners present were Milton Albright (Pct. 1), F.A. Green (Pct. 2), Jason Willberg (Pct. 3) and Nita Wuebker (Pct. 4).

Regarding the American Rescue Plan grant funds, Falls County Judge Elliott again noted several recipients of the grant funds have not submitted required documents, such as receipts of purchases. Accelerated procedures will begin in January 2024.

Commissioner Green moved to accept the resignation of Debbie Nowaskia and Jim Woliver from ESD #1 and the appointment of Wesley Roland and Tracy Dimerson to ESD #1. Seconded by Commissioner Albright, the motion carried. 

Concerning the renewal of the Falls County Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with the Department of Public Safety, Commissioner Green moved to approve the renewal of the contract to allow office space for the DPS, seconded by Commissioner Willberg, motion carried.  

Commissioner Willberg moved to accept the Bell-Milam-Falls WSC road/bore on CR 402. Seconded by Commissioner Wuebker, motion carried. Even though an official release date has been announced, Commissioner Green moved to approve the TWDB Grant Project #40002. Seconded by Commissioner Wuebker, motion carried.

Due to the upcoming holidays, the Commissioners voted to change the second Commissioners Court date to Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023 at 9 a.m. In addition, the Commissioners approved modifying payroll for Dec. 22 instead of Jan. 1, 2024.

Jeff Jackson, Road & Bridge Administrator, reported the department is currently fully employed. Due to the most recent Trash/Tire Day was slow in collection, the tires will be picked up after the Spring special collection. Commissioner Green suggested the Randolph Cemetery entrance on Hwy. 7 needs a culvert. Jackson agreed to inspect the request. 

Commissioner Albright moved to approve the payment of all bills, budget amendments and payroll and the approval of the minutes from the prior meeting. Commissioner Green seconded; the motion carried. With no further business, Judge Elliott adjourned the meeting.
