Falls County Commissioners discuss several topics at meeting

The Falls County Commissioners Court met on Monday, June 13, with County Judge Jay Elliott presiding. Present were Commissioners Milton Albright (Pct. 1), F.A. Green (Pct. 2), and Jason Willberg (Pct. 3) and Nita Wuebker (Pct. 4).

Judge Elliot noted the need to determine the least restrictive way to use the remaining balance of the American Rescue Plan grant. The Commissioners discussed to continue with the burn ban lift until needed. After discussion of the Texas Association of Counties Health and Employee Benefits deductibles, Commissioner Green moved to renew the plan for 2023. Motion carried.

Commissioner Albright moved to place estimated $50 million rollback funds into a separate fund account and the finance officers plan the disbursements. Motion carried. 

The Commissioners accepted a $300 contract increase concerning Falls on the Brazos Park maintenance. Motion carried. Commissioners approved to join the Texas SmartBuy Membership Program which falls under the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Cooperative Purchasing Program. It was recommended to obtain a Citibank credit card. Over 95 percent of counties use this type of card.

 Commissioner Green moved to accept the Children’s Advocacy Center program protocol and guidelines. Motion carried. Green also moved to pay Adams Funeral Home for indigent cremation. Motion carried.

Regarding the Texas CDBG Contract Draw Request, the Commissioners moved to set a final public hearing for June 27.  The City of Golinda requested an Interlocal Agreement between Falls County and the City of Golinda for street repairs. Commissioner Wuebker moved to accept the agreement. Motion carried. 

An invitation for individual bids for Falls County will include Gasoline, Diesel fuel, Scalping, white rock, road oil, asphalt, bridge materials, culverts, and roadside spraying. Bids should be submitted by Friday, July 8 at 9 am. at the Road & Bridge Department on Bridge St. It was also observed the County need a new Road Board policy for cash bond requirements. 

Commissioner Albright moved all bills are paid, seconded by Commissioner Willberg. Motion carried. It was noted because of three-day Tax Office training, a noticed should be posted of the closing in November in designated areas including the newspaper. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
