Falls County Commissioners extend burn ban
The Falls County Commissioners Court met on Monday, July 11, and approved the continuation of the burn ban in the county until at least July 25.
County Judge Jay Elliott presided. Present were Commissioners Milton Albright (Pct. 1), F.A. Green (Pct. 2), and Jason Willberg (Pct. 3) and Nita Wuebker (Pct. 4).
The Commissioners Court approved to continue with the burn ban effective July 11-25.
Commissioners were reminded the deadline for the American Rescue Plan application re-submissions is Aug. 1.
Also approved was the surety bond for Kayci Nehring, Falls County Tax Assessor. Following annual audit presentation via phone conference with Beyer & Company, an unmodified opinion, the highest to be given, reported zero findings. New hires, terminations and benefit changes will be processed by the County Treasurer’s office.
Commissioner Wuebker moved to authorize submission of a Texas Parks and Wildlife Small Community Park Grant for Falls on the Brazos, matching available share and authorizing MRB Group as designated representative. Motion carried. Commissioner Wuebker also moved to adopt resolution permanently prohibiting mining and drilling activities in Falls on the Brazos Park. Motion carried.
In other matters, Commissioners approved the payment of $25,160 for administrative services to Grant Works regarding the American Plan; outlay report for Contract amendment #1 TWDB flood plan grant and accepted bids for county vehicles operations and maintenance supplies (gasoline, diesel, fuel and Motor oil) road and bridge materials excluding roadside spraying.
Jeff Jackson, Road & Bridge Administrator, presented work reports and expectations of on-going road projects that he will oversee. He noted a vacancy for shredder operator position and four bridges are still in need of repair. Commissioner Albright recommended purchasing a potbelly truck, using current employees with CDL. Commissioner Green moved to approve the payment of all bills, payroll, and budget amendments.
Commissioners moved to approve the June 27 minutes followed by the adjournment of the meeting.
