Falls County Commissioners hold meeting
The Falls County Commissioners Court met at the County Courthouse in Marlin on Monday, Sept. 25, with County Judge Jay Elliott presiding. Commissioners present were Milton Albright (Pct. 1), F. A. Green (Pct. 2), Jason Willberg (Pct. 3) and Nita Wuebker (Pct. 4).
Commissioners approved the proposed records preservation/archive plan fee of $10 per filing.
Commissioner Albright moved to accept the contract renewal with Appriss Insights, LLC as vendor certified by the Office of Attorney General, State of Texas, to provide Statewide Automated Victim Notification Service (SAVNS) to the County. Seconded by Commissioner Green, motion carried. Commissioner Willberg moved to accept the $95,000 settlement received from Magellan Pipeline. After attorney expenses, arrears will be divided between Precincts 3 and 4. Seconded by Commissioner Wuebker, motion carried.
Commissioners authorized an advance of funds for state salary supplements of two additional lawyers at the County Attorney’s Office prior to reimbursement from SB funds. The County will be reimbursed during the Oct. 1, 2023, to Sept. 30, 2024, physical year. Commissioner Green moved to approve the replacement of the Courthouse panic system and move current system to the Adult Probation Office. Seconded by Commissioner Albright, motion carried.
Road and Bridge Administrator, Jeff Jackson, reported the need for employees, especially with CDLs. The plan of work for CR 139 bridge is on track. Commissioner Albright moved to approve the paying of bills, including reimbursements, late charges, transfer of cash or funds from one line item to another. Commissioner had a concern regarding fee paid to company for transporting deceased indigents. Updates will be available at the next meeting. With the exception of the transportation concern, Green seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Commissioner Wuebker moved to accept the Aug. 28 and Sept. 11 meeting minutes. Seconded by Commissioner Willberg, motion carried. Farewells were shared with Attorney John Reddington who will no longer preside as a County Representative. With no further business, the meeting adjourned.
