Falls County Sheriff’s Office busy

The Falls County Sheriff’s Office has been busy.

On July 27, a joint agency effort conducted a warrant service to capture fugitive Jose Benetiz who was wanted for several warrants stemming back to 2020. 

The Falls County Sheriffs Office and Marlin Police Department sent officers to an address in Marlin and apprehended Benetiz while he was asleep at a residence. Benetiz was captured without incident.

Benetiz warrants are as follows with bonds totaling $340,000: Assault Family/House Mem Impede Breath/Circulation - $250,000 (Marlin); Unlawful Restraint - $50,000 (Marlin); Fail To ID Fugitive Intent Give False Information (Brazos) - $20,000; Driving While Intoxicated 2nd (Brazos) -$20,000.

Deputies also responded to a call about a sexual assault that occurred in Chilton on July 24. After the gathering of evidence and an investigation, Jose Barron of Chilton was arrested at his home and charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of Child (First degree felony) after determining the victim was under the age of 14 years old. 

Barron is currently being held at the Falls County Jail charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of Child with his bond set at $500,000.
