Film Friendly City

Texas Film Commission (TFC) Production Consultant, Ali Nichols, presented the City of Marlin with the official certificate of being a Film Friendly City. TFC is a Division of the Office of the Governor’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism. TFC has been around since 1971 and works to promote Texas as a premiere media production destination, and one of the many ways TFC accomplishes that mission is through the statewide community partnerships fostered by the Film Friendly Texas program. Through the training and certification processes, statewide communities, such as Marlin, are prepared to meet the opportunities and challenges of accommodating on-location filming activity and are readied to help match local businesses with media production-related needs and services. TFC is engaged in this meaningful exchange with Texas communities because on-location filming activity stimulates local economies by creating jobs for Texas-based crew members and local residents. It also generates spending on local goods and services to small businesses. This type of economic development includes but is not limited to: lodging, catering, transportation, location fees, lumber and construction supplies, local hires and much more. For more than 50 years, TFC has helped to grow jobs for Texans and the Texas economy by promoting the Lone Star State as the premier destination for film, television, commercial, animation, visual effects, and video game production. From 2007 to 2021, our efforts at the TFC along with the local expertise and assistance put forward by our Film Friendly Texas community partners has attracted $1.74 billion in local spending and created more than 162,000 production jobs across the state. With this in mind, TFC is excited and proud to welcome the City of Marlin to our statewide network of more than 165 Film Friendly certified communities!
