Sprint to Austin: Marlin relay teams ready for state track meet

Last year, the Marlin girls’ 4x200-meter relay team had the fastest qualifying time in the regional meet. A run at the UIL State Track & Field Championships in Austin appeared immanent.
But the Lady Bulldogs dropped the baton in the regional finals and missed out on a chance to run at state. They finished third in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, one spot out of qualifying.
This year, the runners left nothing to chance.
Marlin qualified for the state meet in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays. They would have qualified in the 4x400, but a dropped baton knocked them out of the running.
