Matter of Balance, eight two-hour sessions beginning at 1:30 p.m., yes, every Wednesday, led by trained coach, Dave Gray. This program was developed at the Roybal Center at Boston University, and has been nationally recognized and used throughout the country. Present day, MOB takes place at the Senior Civic Center on 104 Hays Street in Marlin, Texas.. 

A Matter of Balance (MOB), a program of Area Agency on Aging, is specifically designed to reduce the fear of falling and improve activity levels among older adults. Participants learn about the importance of exercise in preventing falls and practice exercises to improve strength, coordination, and balance.

MOB uses practical coping strategies to reduce fear of falling and to diminish the risk of falling. Following the MOB book provided, there are group discussions, mutual problem solving, sharing practical solutions, exercises to improve strength, coordination and balance, and home safety evaluations.

Program outcomes are increased comfort talking about fear of falling and increased comfort increasing activity. 

Although the current program is midway through its program length of 8 total sessions, the restart of another session is in sight. The requirement is that eight (8) individuals will register with Area Agency on Aging Coach Dave Gray at (254) 723-2876. In the famous words of a television host, “Come on down!”
