Juneteenth Celebration set for June 19

The Marlin Juneteenth Club will celebrate the 47th Annual Juneteenth Celebration on Wednesday, June 19. The celebration will be held at the Falconer-Stamp Center at 322 Durr Street. Kicking off the celebration promptly at 11 a.m. will be the parade, which will begin at the Falconer-Stamp Center. Parade line-up will begin at 10:30 a.m. The Juneteenth program will begin at 1 p.m. at the Falconer-Stamp Center. The them for this year’s celebration is “Black Migration.” The club is asking the entire city of Marlin for full support. All churches, businesses, private organizations, as well as the entire community are being asked to take an active part in the parade. Line-up for the parade will start at 10 a.m. First and second place prizes will be awarded for the best decorated vehicle in the parade. Helen Woodson will serve as Grand Marshall for the parade. Pastor Norris Jackson of South Union Baptist Church will be the keynote speaker for the 1 p.m. program.
