Juvenile found sleeping in local park

A concerned citizen reported that they had noticed a minor sleeping in MLK Park. They said that it had been at least three nights total.

Sgt. Percy Brewer answered that call, finding the child there. Upon questioning him, it came out that he had been on the street for more than those three days.

The minor, unidentified, had multiple bug bites all over his body, as well as a BB gun pellet in his left arm. According to the child, it was someone he lived with that had shot him and it had been lodged there for nearly two weeks.

He was brought back to the MPD station and questioned further about his home life. It came out that he had not eaten in several days, so in addition to the rescue team checking the child out, he was given sustenance.

Child Protective Services was called after the conversation and the minor was ultimately removed from the custody of his household. He will remain in CPS custody, pending further investigation.
