Keep Alert of Emergency Vehicles

Marlin Volunteer Fire Department Rescue 1 was on the scene of a motor vehicle crash on south bound State Highway 6 on Jan. 9.  Rescue 1 was positioned in such a way as to protect the tow operators as well as the law enforcement officers working the accident scene. MVFD personnel had traffic cones in place as well at the time of the incident.  While workers were cleaning up the accident scene a silver vehicle disregarded all traffic control devices and equipment.  The silver vehicle struck the driver’s side of the rescue truck causing significant damage to the apparatus. The driver of the silver vehicle was evaluated by EMS and was not transported.  Marlin VFD personnel were able to take evasive action and avoid injury as well. The MVFD reminds everyone to pay attention and keep your eyes on the road and slow down and move over when you see an emergency response vehicle.
