Local Cleanup Saturday!

This Saturday, civic-minded Marlin locals will gather at McDonald’s at 10 a.m. to clean up Live Oak Street, which cuts through the heart of downtown. Marlin local and organizer Shara Hance said that this Saturday’s community cleanup effort is not the first workday, nor will it be the last.

“We cleaned up Monroe last month,” Hance said. “There was trash and debris blocking almost the width of a car. Six of us cleaned the entire street in five hours. The next week, one of the people who had come out had their husband come and clean the road with a skid steer. It looks so much better!”

Those interested in lending a helping hand are encouraged to bring bottled water and work gloves. Folks with trucks for hauling off the trash and debris collected are also welcome and invited to attend.
