Marlin Announces New City Manager

After an ongoing search, the Marlin City Council voted unanimously on October 9, 2025, to hire Jason Creacy as the new city manager. Creacy will officially begin his new leadership role on Nov. 3, 2025, with a starting $90K salary.

Additional specifics about the chosen candidate’s name were not made public after the meeting. Later, Mayor Byrd visited with Marlin Democrat Staff Writer, Elizabeth Richardson, to share a few details about the decision.

Creacy, 46 years old, is a Gatesville native who owns a family ranch but will reside in Marlin. He joins the City of Marlin after serving as Manager III for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and supervised twentyone prison facilities. According to Mayor Susan Byrd, “The city man- ager’s municipality duties are similar to the government experience which helped to qualify Creacy for the position.” Two major vacancies to be filled under his supervision are Public Works Director and Director of Finance.

Creacy is familiar with the Marlin community and its needs. During a Marlin emergency, Creacy supervised crews and equipment brought in to assist at the water plant and public works.

Mayor Byrd plans to publish a press release with more information about the city manager in the future. Be watching the Democrat for more information.
