Marlin bond issue will fix streets

Marlin residents will go to the polls next Tuesday to decide a bond issue for $2.4 million for including streets in the city.

The City Council voted to issue the bond election earlier this year to help with repair for the city’s infrastructure including streets, roads, sidewalks, bridges and intersections.

Voters can vote for or against the proposed bond.

City residents can expect the estimated maximum annual increase in the amount of taxes that would be imposed on a residence homestead in the city with a taxable appraised value of $100,000 to repay the proposed bonds, if approved, is $78.80, according to bond documents.

Early voting will be held through Oct. 29 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Marlin City Hall. Election day voting is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Marlin City Hall, 101 Fortune Street in Marlin, on Nov. 2.
