Marlin Chamber to sell commemorative ornaments

The Marlin Chamber of Commerce is selling commemorative ornaments of historic buildings and locations in Marlin.

According to chamber board members, boxes of the ornaments were found while going through storage earlier this year and so they began to sell them to revitalize Marlin’s rich history.

“Marlin has so much history,” said Chamber President Elaine Truitt. “We don’t want it to all be lost.”

There are eight different varieties, all made in different years and depicting different periods of history.

The ornaments come in several festive colors, with a metallic scripted image of the structure, along with a story about each landmark.

The ornaments are of the following locations- The Hilton circa 1929,  Marlin High School from 1917-1973, The Buie Clinic (the old sanitarium), Highlands Mansion, Falls on the Brazos, Marlin Elementary School, The Allen House, and The Falls County Courthouse that stood from 1887-1939.

Though these ornaments are on sale year round, they make the perfect stocking stuffer for mom and dad.

They are available either through the Chamber of Commerce or at The Petal Patch for $3 each or 2 for $5. Give a little history this holiday season.
