Marlin house burns

On Feb. 25 at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Marlin Police Department and the Marlin Fire Department responded to a call about a structure fire at the 400 block of Capps St. Upon arrival both fire and police located an attached garage completely engulfed in flames.

As the firefighters were setting up to combat the flames, citizens and Marlin Police Officers assisted in dragging the fire hose to a nearby hydrant.

Due to the quick response and the help of the citizens and Marlin Police Officers the Marlin FD and Marlin Volunteer FD were able to save the home, but the garage was lost.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

“I would also like to say that I was very proud to work in Marlin when I got to see the community come together to help each other in times like this,” said Captain William Pereyra. “Thankfully nobody was displaced or injured.”
