Marlin ISD accepts superintendent’s resignation

After five years of transformative leadership, Dr. Darryl J. Henson has informed the Marlin ISD Board of Trustees of his decision to step down as Superintendent, effective September 1, 2025.

Dr. Henson arrived in May 2020 amid significant challenges for the district. Working closely with the Board and the Texas Education Agency, he guided Marlin ISD in achieving monumental academic, athletic, and facility improvement milestones.

With the successful completion of the district’s strategic plan, Vision 2025, Dr. Henson believes now is the right moment for new leadership to advance the district’s vision. He will serve in an advisory role to the Board and the newly hired Superintendent through the 2025–26 school year, supporting a seamless transition of leadership.

“It has been an honor to serve the Marlin community as their Superintendent and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together,” Dr. Henson said. “Marlin ISD is on a strong path forward and I look forward to watching the district continue to thrive.”

“Dr. Henson’s dedication has revived our schools, energized our community, and positioned us for sustained success,” said Marlin ISD Board President Billy Johnson. “We thank him for his service to our students, faculty, and community.”
