Marlin ISD to investigate district affairs, superintendent

The Marlin Independent School District Board of Managers voted to hire an independent agency to investigate district affairs and Superintendent Michael Seabolt’s performance on June 5. The meeting began with Board President Billy Johnson calling it to order, and motioning to hire an independent agency to investigate district affairs and Superintendent Michael Seabolt’s performance of duties. The motion was seconded by Sam Sinno. Following the second, the board of managers then went into a closed session. After about an hour wait, the board returned. The motion was voted on and passed 4-5. Board Vice President Danny Vickers was against the motion. A motion was the heard to place Seabolt on administrative leave. The motion passed 4-5. Seabolt was directed to turn in his keys and devices that day and is forbidden from stepping foot on any district property. Seabolt had been with the district since 2015. The board attempted to oust him in a meeting last week, but the motion didn’t carry. The board approved naming Raymond Godfey as acting superintendent by a vote of 4-5.
