Marlin Juneteenth celebration planned

The Marlin Juneteenth Club will celebrate the 48th annual Juneteenth Celebration Saturday, June 19.  

The celebration will be held at the Falconer-Stamps Center at 322 Durr Street. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Continual Evolution of Juneteenth.”

Kicking off the celebration promptly at 11 a.m., the parade will begin at the Falconer-Stamps Center; parade line-up will begin at 10 a.m.  

All churches, businesses, private organizations as well as the entire community are asked to please take an active part in the parade with decorated cars and floats. All children entries must be supervised. First and second place prizes will be awarded for the best decorated vehicles in the parade. 

Honorable Mayor Carolyn Lofton will serve as Parade Grand Marshal.

Following the parade, the annual Juneteenth Program will begin at 12:15 p.m. at the Falconer-Stamps Center. Minister John Armstrong, Church of Christ of Marlin, will be the keynote speaker.

The Community Dinner will be served immediately after the Juneteenth Program.  Outside activities will be available for the children.
