Marlin Lions protect and preserve uptown street curbs

This past Saturday morning at 7 a.m., an industrious feat was underway at the corner of Ward and Live Oak Streets, Uptown Marlin, again.

It began with four Marlin Lions, determined to complete painting curbs yellow on both sides of another section of Uptown Marlin streets, dividing the tasks. Lion Jay Elliott would shovel the dirt (once mud), weeds and debris on the street butting up against the curb, He would transfer it to a wheelbarrow, then redeposit it in a safe area.

Lion Anthony Roppolo would follow with the leaf blower, dusting away the curb and the downward slope to the street.

Lion Letitia Estep and Lion John Armstrong would roll the highly visible, yellow pigmented safety paint on the top and downward curve of the marked sections of the street. Ultimately, all four Lions were painting and, having worked together, prepared and painted both sides of another block in Uptown Marlin needing to be yellow for traffic and pedestrian safety in under two hours!

Another Yellow Paint Day is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 21, at 7 a.m. Won’t you join in on this curb painting project as Marlin Lions work to protect and preserve what Marlin has now for the future?
