Marlin PD receives CJAC grant

On April 8, Marlin Police Chief James Hommel presented a grant proposal to the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee(CJAC).

This grant proposal was for FY22 funding recommendation -JAG.

The City of Marlin scored 82.45 which was the highest score out of seven other cities. The grant funds will be for $17,811.53 and will be for the purchase of new up to date Tasers for every Police officer in the department.

This will help officers defuse tense situations instead of having to result in  using  deadly force. All officers will be trained on the proper use of the tasers and the correct way to carry the tasers to help de-escalate situations.

Hommel said that thanks go to Captain William Pereyra and the Heart of Texas Council of Government for assisting in preparing this grant proposal.
