Marlin Police: Vehicle thefts increase during the holiday season

With the upcoming holiday season approaching the Marlin Police Department has seen an increase in both vehicle theft and burglary of motor vehicles.

“We have seen three vehicle thefts where keys were left in the vehicle and several others where family members or friends have borrowed the vehicle without the owner knowing about it,” Marlin Police Chief James Hommel said in a Facebook post.

“We have seen several videos of three young adults walking through different neighborhoods,” he said. “They are walking from vehicle to vehicle and checking to see if they’re unlocked.  If you see or hear anything suspicious please don’t hesitate to call. Remember to remove keys  and lock doors.”
