Marlin Rotary Club welcomes Samuel Wright as a member

Rotary Club International welcomes its newest member, Samuel Wright, Attorney at Law. Mr. Wright is a Reservist Attorney for FEMA. As such, he attends and remains at disasters sites for whatever length of time that his services are required, usually several months. 

Samuel Wright and Phyllis Macmillan of Marlin were wed Dec. 31, 2020, and reside in Marlin.

In 1982, while in the Naval Reserve, Mr. Wright joined the United States Department of Labor (DOL) as an attorney, where he litigated to enforce the Veterans’ Reemployment Rights Law (VRR).

Samurai Wright retired from the Navy Reserve on April 1, 2007, with the rank of captain. 

His undergraduate education began at Northwestern University, where in 1973 he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government. In 1980, he achieved the

Master of Laws - LLM Labor and Industrial Relations from Georgetown University. In 1980, Mr. Wright achieved a Doctor of Laws degree at the University of Houston. A Doctor of Laws degree is the highest level of law degree that is offered in the United States.

Rotary is an organization of business and professional person united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

Samuel Wright was welcomed as the newest member at his presentation at the Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, meeting of the Rotary Club of Marlin. There he joined other Rotarians in the four-way test: 1. Is it the Truth? 2. Is it Fair to all concerned? 3. Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships? 4. Will it be Beneficial to all Concerned?  The Four Way Test was adopted by Rotary in 1943, and is used in all clubs around the world.

In 1989, the Council on Legislation established “Service Above Self” as the principal motto of Rotary, since it best explains the philosophy of unselfish volunteer service.
