MHS Homecoming activities kick off Friday

Homecoming is our opportunity to acknowledge our alumni, along with our current students, as they showcase their Bulldog spirit and reflect on the good times and memories made in school.

In Marlin homecoming is an annual event where alumni and community members come together to celebrate and enjoy a parade through downtown and the Friday Night Lights of Legion Field. Since Thursday morning, the District has received feedback and been made aware of a highly supported petition regarding this year’s homecoming festivities.

As alumni, teachers, leaders, role models, and parents, we must strive to utilize every opportunity available to us to reinforce the values and beliefs that we hold dear in Marlin. The community has spoken and we have listened. We will honor the longstanding traditions of homecoming in Marlin, Texas. Our homecoming schedule will be as follows:

• Homecoming Pep Rally - Friday at 2 p.m. in the high school gymnasium

• Homecoming Parade (traditional route through downtown- Live Oak St.)- Friday at 3:15 p.m.

• Homecoming Game - Friday at 7 p.m. (King and Queen will be announced at halftime)

Marlin ISD will operate on a modified bell schedule on Friday, Oct. 15, which will allow all middle school, high school, and alumni to attend the pep rally. Elementary school parents may begin checking their students out at 1:30 p.m., so that they may attend the pep rally. All middle school students will be escorted to the high school gymnasium for the pep rally and will be released from the high school for dismissal around 2:45 p.m.

The parade lineup will begin at First Baptist Church following the pep rally and feature the Classes of 2011, 2006, 2001, 1996, 1991, and many of our classes from the 80s and 70s.
