MISD Board of Managers looking for input
The Marlin Independent School District is looking for input from the community as a new school year begins.
The community is invited to collaborate with the district as new goals for the Board of Managers are developed for the 2019-2020 school year. The district’s goal is to reach every student, every day. In doing so, they are focusing on the growth of each individual student.
The district’s goal this year will focus on math, reading, and the college, career, and military readiness standards.
Goals are:
To get the percentage of students in grades 4-8 who grow at least one or more academic year(s) on the STAAR math exam will increase five percentage points each year from 54 percent to 69 percent by Aug. 15, 2022.
The percentage of students in grade 4-8 who grow at least one or more academic year(s) on the STAAR reading exam will increase seven percentage points each year from 59 percent to 80 percent by Aug. 15, 2022.
The percentage of graduates who will qualify for community college/university, military, or industrial certification will increase annually by five percentage points from 34 percent to 49 percent by July 2022.
The district invites the community to take a survey on the above goals and to let them know if this growth is adequate or not.
