MISD sets Adventure Is Out There for this summer

This summer, the TEA and The Wallace Foundation are sponsoring Marlin Elementary in piloting a new type of voluntary (not mandatory) summer learning experience.

If you are a family of a current k-4 student at Marlin Elementary, who has tested “one grade level below” on any benchmark or Common Based Assessment in Reading/ELA or Math, your child will be invited to participate in this program. It will be a unique, fun, camp-like learning experience that will be full of hands-on, engaging activities and will help your child build relationships with teachers and other students.

The program will also encourage your child to explore their own social and emotional habits, while participating in fun events, exciting enrichment opportunities daily, and weekly field trips to various locations in the area (such as Waco or Temple).

If your child does not receive an invitation - don’t worry. You can still apply for your child to participate, just fill out the form located here.

And did we mention that this program is at no cost to you.

The program will run from June 6 to July 15 (except for July 4 week), from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Lunch will be provided at no cost to all participants! Busing is available!

To apply or accept the invitation, click this link and fill out the form. We will reach out to the phone number or email provided to confirm, and to let you know about the first orientation meeting for parents, coming up later in April. The deadline for applications is April 15.

In the case that your child does not qualify for this summer learning experience - don’t worry! Marlin ISD is also offering a traditional summer program that will follow much of the same fun, exciting strategies, events, and field trips, housed at the Middle School.
