More Marlin Winners at Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo
The annual Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo (FWSSR) came to an end on Saturday, Feb. 7, having drawn more than 30,000 livestock entries from across the state, and an estimated 1.2 million attendees over a 23 day period.
During each of the FWSSR’s 23 rodeo performances, 20 students competed to catch one of 10 calves for the opportunity to earn a $500 heifer purchase certificate.

Students who successfully complete the Calf Scramble and exhibit their heifer at the 2027 FWSSR are then eligible to compete for scholarships ranging from $500 to $16,000. The following four students, all FFA members from the Marlin chapter, were successful in catching a calf in one of many Calf Scrambles: Alejando Knox; Keaton Butler; Katy Mendoza-Escobar; and Henry Barrientos.
Congratulations to these calf wranglers!
