National Day of Prayer

Over thirty people gathered at the County Courthouse on May 4 to attend the 2023 National Day of Prayer. Minister Deborah Raphael, Interim Minister at the Zion Hill Baptist Church, was instrumental in planning and presiding over the event. The national theme was “Pray Fervently in Righteousness and Avail Much (James 5:16B). Several local clergy and community leaders led prayers in the selected areas including the Family, Church, Business and Workplace, Education, Military, Government and the Arts, Media and Entertainment. Those gathered were blessed with songs from the Children of Faith, Hope and Charity, guitarist Fred Ormsby Sr., and others. Reflections stressed loving one another and returning the family back to church. Pastor Gail Garrett of the Bible Way Church Family Center noted there are at least fifty-six churches in the area. Above, the children of Faith, Hope and Charity lift their voices in praise. At right, community praying for personal and community blessings.
