Office hours to change at tax office

Falls County Commissioners Court met at the County Courthouse on Monday, Dec. 12, with County Judge Jay Elliott presiding. Commissioners present were Milton Albright (Pct. 1), F.A. Green (Pct. 2) via conference call, Jason Willberg (Pct. 3) and Nita Wuebker (Pct. 4). 

Kayci Nehring, County Tax Assessor-Collector, announced change of office hours. Effective immediately and until otherwise noted, the Tax Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office will close for lunch 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday only. 

In other matters, Commissioner Willberg noted the AMR Ambulatory Service proposed to extend the contract to March 31, 2023. 

Commissioner Albright moved to remove 4th & 5th streets and alleys from the old Otto, TX. Plat. Seconded by Commissioner Willberg, motion carried. Commissioner Albright moved to accept the Violence Against Women Act (VAGA) $31,000 grant and hire a Victim’s Investigator. Seconded by Commissioner Wuebker, motion carried. 

Regarding the Falls County property lease in Archer County, five bids were received. Commissioner Albright moved to accept the Mitchell bid of $29.75 an acre. Seconded by Commissioner Green, motion carried. The lease is effective March 15, 2023. It was noted the funds from the lease are dispersed among Falls County schools. 

Commissioner Green moved to appoint Jace Albright as a board member to the Emergency Service District #1. Seconded by Commissioner Willberg, motion carried.  

Due to high mileage and wear and tear on the non-lease vehicles, the Falls County Sheriff Department requested four (4) additional Chevrolet Tahoe leased vehicles. Chief Deputy Derick Johnson discussed details of the leased vehicles delivery process. Due to supply chain challenges, he estimated 18 months for delivery of the Police Package Vehicles (PPV). Commissioner Albright moved to approve the request to place the order. Seconded by Commissioner Willberg, the motion carried.  In addition, Commissioner Albright moved to accept the Cap Fleet quote to outfit 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe with prisoner transport equipment. Seconded by Commissioner Wuebker, motion carried.

Commissioner Wuebker moved to accept the Completion of Continuing Education Certification of Constable Pct. 4, Jerry Wood. Seconded by Commissioner Albright, motion carried. In addition, Commissioner Wuebker moved to approve the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) outlay request #2 and payment of invoices. Seconded by Commissioner Willberg, motion carried. Motion to adopt second and fourth Mondays as dates for 2023 Commissioners Court was made by Commissioner Wuebker. Seconded by Commissioner Albright, motion carried. If the meeting falls on a holiday, the date will be changed.

Jeff Jackson, Road & Bridge Administrator, reported Blade Operator #2 has returned to work with light duties. Workers continue to work on roads and bridges. Commissioner Albright moved to approve payment of bills, budget amendments and payroll. Seconded by Commissioner Willberg, motion carried. Commissioner Wuebker moved to accept the Nov. 28, 2022, minutes. Seconded by Commissioner Albright, motion carried. With no further agenda items, Judge Elliott adjourned the meeting.
