Pastor Garrett to celebrate 50 years
Pastor Lonnie D. Garrett has hit another milestone in his life. Being born and raised as seventh out of ten children to the late Major and Gertha Garrett in the Rocky Hill community near Marlin, was chosen by God to follow in his father’s footsteps in Ministry.
Pastor Lonnie was at the beginning of the founding Bible Way Holiness Church in year 1958 by his late father. Pastor Lonnie was faithful and dedicated to the church until God called him at age 19 years old but he didn’t accept his calling until age 21 while he was drafted in the armed services in Los Angeles California. Lonnie’s father passed away when he was age 15 and he felt he needed to be near Marlin to take care of his mother.
After six other pastors had served the church, the late Bishop Floyd Williams Was called to start ministry in Waco and ordained Lonnie Garrett as pastor at age 23 years old.
Lonnie was ordained and called to Bible Way Holiness Church in year 1971 where he has remained up to present.
He was appointed Bishop through the All Nations Pentecostal of Apostolic Faith in Jesus Christ July 2004 and now hold the title of National Bishop of same organization after the passing of Bishop Floyd Williams in 2013.
Bishop Garrett is a Great gospel singer and musician in his own right since childhood.
His hobbies included traveling, cooking, shopping, decorating And ministering to people through the Word, singing, deed and giving in community.
Bishop Garrett is married to Ouida Gail Johnson Garrett for 37 years. They have three children: Tanunya (William) Adamson of Houston, Lana (Marvin) Alexander of China Spring, and Gaylon (Crystal) Garrett of Little Elm; and nine grandchildren.
A Golden 50th Celebration Banquet will be held in Bishop Garretts honor
Saturday, July 10, at 4 p.m. held at Marlin Men Civic Center, 1104 bus Hwy 6 in Marlin.
Ticket donation $50 per person (seating limited). The event is semi-formal.
