Pedestrian Struck by Semi Truck
A semi truck struck a pedestrian on southbound Highway 6 on Saturday, Aug. 2. The pedestrian was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple by PHI Med 1-5, based in Temple.
According to Facebook comments from family and friends, the pedestrian was in stable condition as of Sunday.
During the incident, the semi truck spilled a load of soap and other hygiene products onto the roadway, creating a traffic hazard.
Passenger vehicle traffic was detoured onto County Road 116, while semi trucks were rerouted via FM 1240 to FM 147. The Texas Department of Public Safety conducted an investigation, and crews worked to clear the roadway.
This was the second accident involving a semi truck in the area within a week, following a collision between a sedan and a semi on FM 147 last Wednesday.
