Repairs to pump finished, drought plan at Stage 2

On July 18 City of Marlin Public Works crews finalized the repairs to the Brazos River pump.

According to Marlin Mayor Carolyn Lofton, they began pumping water at a flow of 1,700 gallons per minute which would put approximately 2.5 million gallons of water in our city lake within a 24-hour period. They have monitored for leaks and found none so far. They will continue daily monitoring for leaks over the next several days.

In addition, divers were on site today to begin clearing sediment from our city lake. If everything holds for the next few days, we are planning to reduce our drought contingency plan on Friday, July 22, to a Stage 2.

Thank you all for your understanding and participation as we work to ensure consistent water availability for the citizens of Marlin during these drought conditions, Lofton said.
