Rotary Club welcomes MISD Interim Superintendent Norman Jones
Rotary Club Paul Harris Foundation Chair Roger Nutt introduced MISD Interim Superintendent Norman Jones at the club’s weekly meeting on September 24, 2025.
Interim Superintendent Jones has served the Marlin Independent School District for three years. Most recently, he held the position of Chief Human Resources Officer. He has been successfully leading the school district during it’s current leadership transition as Acting Superintendent.
Interim Superintendent Jones and his wife, Alicia, and their five children live in Waco, TX.
September marks Rotary’s dedication to Basic Education and Literacy, one of our seven Areas of Focus. Literacy and proficiency in reading and writing are critical in every aspect of life, from acquiring knowledge to effective communication and fostering agreements. Strengthening these fundamental skills in Basic Education and Literacy plays a pivotal role in paving the way for success in the realms of business and professions, and, most importantly, for peace. Rotary International’s statement on the importance of peace, “We refuse to accept conflict as a way of life. Rotary projects provide training that fosters understanding and provides communities with the skills to resolve conflicts.” For Rotarians, this is a clear call to action: to strengthen the foundation of learning in the community we serve.
Rotary members will continue to invest in the future by granting scholarships to students with the potential to transform our communities. Rotary Club of Marlin has donated thousands of books to schoolchildren in Pre-K, Kindergarten, First and Second grades in Marlin Elementary School to take home. Its Rotary District 5870 also provides youth programs that strengthen leadership and learning for teens, such as Rotary Youth Leadership Awards weekend. Further, the Rotary Club of Marlin is taking steps for students to organize their own Rotary youth club, Interact Interact clubs bring together young people ages 1218 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self. By this they discover how serious leadership can be seriously fun. Rotary Interact Club students take action, build international understanding, and make new friends around the world!
Rotary Club of Marlin welcomes Interim Superintendent Jones’ dedication and leadership as he continues to be instrumental in maintaining stability and focus within the district. He declares, “This chapter in MISD history will be marked by making sure that Marlin Independent School District becomes the best school district in the state.”
To that, Rotarians agree, “Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change - in ourselves, our communities, and across the globe.
