Sales taxes down for month

AUSTIN — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced last week he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $670.9 million in local sales tax allocations for March, 8.3 percent more than in March 2017. These allocations are based on sales made in January by businesses that report tax monthly. Cities are receiving 6.8 percent more than they did one year ago and counties are getting 14.5 percent more.

Marlin’s rebated allocation was off slightly from last year. Marlin had $50,787.97 in sales taxes, down 6.88 percent from March 2017 and its $51,843.63. Lott and Rosebud were also down for the month.
