Shooting leaves one dead in Riesel

On Sunday, Dec. 18, at approximately 11a.m. the Falls County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting that occurred at a residence on FM 1240 in the Riesel area. 

Upon arrival at the residence, deputies found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the residence, who paramedics and fire department first responders determined was deceased. A person of interest was detained at the scene, and later taken into custody. 

The suspect, James Michael Sieple, was transport to the Falls County Jail, where he was booked in on a charge of Murder, additional charges may be forthcoming. 

The victim, a family member that also lived at the residence was identified as Lawrence Howard Ostwald. 

Precinct Three Justice of the Peace Prebble Polk ordered an autopsy on the victim. 

This is an ongoing investigation and the Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information pertaining to this to call (254) 883-1431 and ask to speak with an investigator.
