Spring Forage Field Day planned for May 14 at Bentwood Dairy

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will hold a Spring Forage Field Day May 14th at Bentwood Dairy.

The cost is $20, payable at registration, which begins at 8:00 a.m. Bentwood Dairy is located at 3099 Horseshoe Bend Rd, Waco TX.  This event is scheduled for 8:20 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

“This program offers a glimpse into the everyday activities of a diversified dairy in Central Texas” said Dr. Shane McLellan, AgriLife Extension agent for McLennan County.

The program is jointly hosted by the AgriLife Extension offices of Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Hill, Limestone, and McLennan Counties.

“Participants will be able to go on a walking tour to see the different aspect of a working dairy,” McLellan said.  “We will also see high quality Brangus seedstock, learn about the dairy industry, and how we all can promote agriculture in a positive way.”

Topics on the schedule include a walking tour of the dairy, management of improved pastures, the dairy industry, how to be proactive and not reactive when talking to activist.  There will be a steak meal and a lot of dairy goodies (did someone say ice cream?)

For more information or to RSVP call the McLennan County Extension Office at (254)757-5180.
