Summer Beef Cattle Management Program planned for Aug. 24

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Limestone, Falls, McLennan, Robertson, Leon, Hill and Freestone Counties are sponsoring a “Summer Beef Cattle Management” program at the Groesbeck Auction Barn in Groesbeck, Texas, on Tuesday, Aug. 24. 

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The program begins at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude after lunch. There will be a sponsored breakfast and cold drinks courtesy of Lone Star Ag Credit. 

There is a $10 fee for the program, payable at the door. We will be offering one (1) CEU (1 General credit) toward recertification of private, non-commercial and commercial applicator licenses for attending the program. 

Speakers for the program include: Dr. Jason Cleere – Extension State Beef Cattle Specialist; Dr. John Nielsen-Gammon – State Climatologist; Lisa Everman – Limestone/Freestone Farm Service Agency; Dr. Barron Rector – Extension Range Specialist; and Dr. Jason Johnson – Extension Economist. 

Topics for the Beef Cattle program include: Short and Long Term Weather Outlook; Feed alternatives with managing rising feed costs; From the Ranch to the Packer: How does the Cash Flow; Weed identification and control (bring your weed samples in to be identified); and a USDA Farm Service Agency Update along with a Cattle Brand Renewal Update.
