Tornado touches down in Falls County

A tornado, actually 4 of them, is confirmed to have touched down April 2 in Falls County.

The National Weather Service has now confirmed that a supercell thunderstorm that traveled from Falls County to Leon County on Sunday evening produced four separate short-lived, weak tornadoes.

The initial touchdown occurred at 5:15 p.m. just east of Marlin in Falls County and the final touchdown occurred about 6 p.m. roughly 12 miles to the west-northwest of Jewett and Lake Limestone.

The Agency said they combined the four tornadoes into a single track and rated each tornado an EF0 with winds at 70 miles per hour. The track lasted for just over 25 miles with a width of 25 yards.

Officials reported some damage and also noted they confirmed the touchdowns through spotter reports, video, and picture evidence.
