Two dead in Falls County accidents

A man and a woman are dead following two unrelated fatal crashes this past week.

The first occurred on Feb. 19 between Kosse and Reagan. Area business owner, Allen Ray Carthel, 54, was found in the Little Brazos River just off Highway 6 near FM 413. Though he was found late that day, it looks as though the vehicle left the roadway early in the day and the roof of the car took the impact.

Another fatal crash occurred around 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, in Marlin.

A woman, not yet identified, was driving on the wrong side of the road and collided with another vehicle head on. The two-car crash occurred on Highway 6 at the Highway 7 overpass.

The woman driving on the wrong side of the road, who was from the New Braunfels area, was 36-years old and died on scene. The other, also not yet identified, was airlifted to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

No other information has been released yet concerning the second crash.
