Two dead in plane crash

Two people are dead after a plane crash in Marlin yesterday.

The accident was reported at about 12:40 p.m. on April 5 near the Marlin Airport.

Texas Department of Public Safety Communications Officer Ryan Howard said DPS Troopers responded to the plane crash located in a field east of the Marlin Airport near CR 134 in Marlin. 

The occupants of the Cessna plane were identified as Thomas Sands Jr., 55, of Sugar Land, and Cinnamon Franklin, 27, of Greenwood, Ind. 

Sands and Franklin were pronounced dead at the scene. 

Next of kin have been notified. 

The FAA and the NTSB are conducting the investigation.
