Upper Zion Missionary Announces Pastor’s Resignation,
Marlin, Texas — Upper Zion Missionary Baptist Church announces that Rev. Stephen W. Johnson, Sr. has tendered his resignation as Pastor, effective December 28, 2025, after more than 22 years of faithful spiritual leadership. His letter of resignation expresses deep gratitude to the congregation and affirms his continued prayers for the church as it enters a new season.
Throughout his pastorate, Rev. Johnson has been faithfully supported by his devoted wife, First Lady Clara Johnson, whose presence, service, and steadfast commitment to the ministry have greatly enriched the life of the church. Her leadership among the women of Upper Zion, her kindness, and her quiet strength have been a blessing to generations of members. The church expresses sincere appreciation for the partnership and dedication she has shown during these many years.
As Upper Zion prepares for this pastoral transition, the congregation will celebrate its rich history and the Johnsons’ extraordinary impact through a series of Homecoming events.

Johnson, Sr. will deliver his final Homecoming message as Pastor, marking a historic moment as the church honors more than two decades of faithful leadership by Pastor Johnson and First Lady Clara Johnson.
Pastoral Appreciation Service – December 28, 2025 – 3:00 PM
Upper Zion will host a special Pastoral Appreciation Service on December 28, 2025, at 3:00 PM, commemorating Pastor Johnson’s final day as Pastor and celebrating First Lady Clara Johnson’s many years of dedicated service. Rev. F. A. Green, Pastor of Providence Baptist Church, will bring the message.
The church family, friends, and the wider community are invited to attend and share in this meaningful celebration of love, leadership, and legacy.
