Officially founded in 1972, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children or WIC, was started to provide for basic healthcare and nutrition of low-income pregnant women, breastfeeding women, as well as infants and children under the age of five.
The goal for WIC is to be a partner with other services that are key to childhood and family well being.
