Winter storm leaves area without power

A severe winter storm left much of Falls County and Central Texas without power last week after inches of ice were left on trees and power lines across the area. People across the county were left without power due to downed power lines beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 1, with many not being restored until early this week. Five electric towers between Marlin and Lott were down due to ice. At one point over 4,600 customers were without power in Falls County. The Marlin water plant was also down due to power being out for a time. Power was restored to the water plant on Feb. 3. The city brush dump near the City Lake wll be open daily during business hours for people to drop off limbs. There will be one free limb pick-up per address. City residents must request a workorder through the water department by calling (254) 883-1450 and selecte prompt 3. Work orders will only be taken until Feb. 24 at 5 p.m.
