Young Eagles Rally a success

The Second Annual EAA Young Eagles Rally saw many area youth get their first ride toward a career in aviation.

EAA Chapter 34 pilots and ground crew helped launch 85 flights, with 57 young eagles spreading their wings on Saturday in Marlin.

Over 40 planes were in attendance, that ranged from homemade and experimental, light sport, commercial, and historical warbirds. Pilots came from all over the state to support the mission of EAA at Marlin Municipal Airport (T-15).

Additionally, American Airlines Cadet Academy, Coast Flight Aviation School, Colt Aircraft, and The Texas Army National Guard were on-site to show how lucrative an aviation career can be.

The City of Marlin would like to thank EAA #34 for their continued investment in future aviators from Marlin.

Also, special thanks to H-E-B , Keith Ace Hardware in Marlin, McDonalds Marlin, Texas, Carquest Auto Parts - Gafford Auto Parts , CEFCO Convenience Stores , American Airlines Cadet Academy, Coast Flight Training , Texas Army National Guard Recruiting, Taquisa Waco , Kona Ice of Waco, Falls County Sheriff’s Office, Marlin Volunteer Fire Department, Marlin Police Department and Mexia-Limestone County Airport for their event support.

We’re already looking toward an even bigger event next year with the Third Annual EAA Young Eagles Rally. Don’t forget, “The sky is not the limit.”
