Marlin T.H.S. Drumline Brings Home Championship Belt Second Year in a Row
The Marlin Sounds of Thunder Drumline (AKA Thunder House Squad - T.H.S) successfully defended their title as Champions at the King of the Ring Drum Competition in Houston on Saturday, March 21.

Marlin local Jay Butler has organized a citywide yard sale that will take place on Saturday, March 21, starting at 8 a.m.
Fire at Little League Field
On Sunday afternoon, a large fire was discovered at the Marlin Lions Club Little League Baseball Field on Neumann and Northridge Streets, made harder to contain and combat by persistent strong winds. Both the City of Marlin Fire Department and the Marlin Volunteer Fire Department responded. City of Marlin Fire Chief Justin Parker provided a summary of the incident as follows: On Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 4:21 PM, the City of Marlin Fire Department was dispatched to a vegetation fire at the baseball field located on Neumann Drive within the city limits of Marlin. At the time of the alarm, gusty northern winds in excess of 25 mph and low relative humidity values (< 30%) were present. Initial reports indicated that structures were threatened by the fire. Based on this information and the unfavorable weather conditions, resources from the Marlin Volunteer Fire Department were immediately requested.
Falls County Commissioners Approve ESD 2 Board Member Resignation, Appoint New Member
The Falls County Commissioners Court met on March 9, 2026, Judge Jay Elliott presiding. Commissioners present were Milton Albright (Pct. 1), F. A. Green (Pct. 2), Jason Willberg (Pct. 3) and Nita Wuebker (Pct. 4). ADA Steve Sharp was in attendance Minutes were approved from the February 23, 2026 meeting. In other matters, Commissioners approved (1) payment of the Centex RC & D annual membership dues (2) quote (minus taxes) for computer monitors for the Auditor and Treasurer’s Department (3) purchase of handheld thermal for the Sheriff’s Office and (4) new computer for the Sheriff’s Office medical department. Commissioners also approved King’s Pump Service to install a complete well pumping system at the Falls County Sheriff’s Office.
