MPD at full force

The Marlin Police Department can now once again make on-site arrests without the need for a warrant from an authorized official.

For the past couple of months the department has been unable to make on-site arrests do to a suspension that they received for being unable to turn in documentation following the theft of the department’s armory by former officer Cuthrell.

The documentation that the department failed to turn in on time was a plan showing how the department planned to avoid any future incidents such as that.

According to the new Marlin Police Chief Michael Pesses, the department is once again fully operational and he feels that they can now move forward in a positive direction.

Since the beginning of the year the department has been plagued with one problem after another leading many to question the effectiveness and dependability of the department sworn to protect them.

District Attorney Jody Gilliam stated that she is confident in the department under the leadership of Pesses.

Pesses, who comes from the much larger city of San Antonio, brings with him several years worth of experience that he can and should be able to use to do exactly what he claims he will do, turn the MPD around with the sole purpose of protecting and serving the citizens of Marlin.
