Janie Sue Blackwell

Janie Sue Blackwell, age 86, of Marlin passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020. 

She was born March 21, 1934 in Jacksonville, Texas to Tolbert and Mozelle Sides.  She graduated from Dialville High School in 1952.  Mrs. Blackwell moved to Dallas, Texas where she resided for 60 years until relocating to Marlin to be closer to her son. 

She was an active member of Gaston Avenue Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.  She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. 

She had a passion for going for walks around her neighborhood and local parks, collecting coins, and archiving newspaper clippings.  She never knew a stranger and enjoyed striking up conversations everywhere she went. 

Janie Sue is preceded in death by her father, Tolbert; her mother, Mozelle; and her sister, Glenda ‘Kay’ French.  She is survived by her son Kenneth Blackwell and wife Tonia of Marlin, six grandchildren, Angela Cannon Reeps and husband Arnold of Pearland, TX, Andrew Cannon, Stacey Weber and husband James of Bartlett, Stephen Taylor of Marlin, Stephanie Taylor of Gatesville, Joseph Blackwell and wife Ashley of McGregor, cousins Guy and Dena Goodwin of Tyler, TX, and ten great grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin, Texas on September 11, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Graveside services to be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2020 in Union Grove, Texas.
