PARK TO GET FACELIFT

Falconer Park is set to get a facelift after a community member started a fundraiser this week. Rachel Wilson decided to gather funds for her son’s favorite place to play in lieu of holding a party for his third birthday. “It is in great need, it will soon become dangerous if we don’t do some major repairs,” she said on Facebook. It began as just a way to replace the broken swings and has expanded to include a number of repairs hoped to be completed. The City of Marlin has come forward to say that they will be replacing the swings with what is on hand, but Wilson has noted funds going towards repairing the bridge and gravel to build up where it has washed out. Along with these repairs, support beams throughout the playground have broken welds, both slides are missing bolts that connect them to the main structure, rusted metal is exposed throughout the structures. The fundraiser has already accrued over $200 for the cause. All funds go towards park repairs. Donate through Venmo @therachelwilson or contact Rachel Wilson on Facebook for alternate donation options.
