William C. Peeler

William C. Peeler, 70, of Marlin, died Saturday at Providence Hospital in Waco from complications of congestive heart failure.

Born William Calvin Peeler (Bill) June 17, 1951, in Marlin, he attended Marlin schools and graduated in 1969. He lived in Marlin nearly all of his life but for a brief period of time in Houston.

He was employed as a salesman for Marlin Mills Carpet and spent time in local retail sales there.

From a very young age he enjoyed a passion for hunting and firearms.  He was successful in numerous rifle competitions and excelled in skeet shooting. He was awarded The National Rifle Association Distinguish Expert Award Medal. He was also an avid tennis player, loved to fish and play golf.  In the latter years of his life, health conditions limited activity and took a toll, confining him to his home in Marlin.

He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was preceded in death by his father, James Calvin Peeler of Marlin and his mother, Mary Peeler, also of Marlin.

He was their only child. Everyone in the community knew Bill as a man of big stature, a big heart and a kind spirit. He will be greatly missed.

Due to the ongoing health crisis, we will be having a private ceremony. If you would care to sign the online memory book or even share a story about Bill, the family welcomes either kind gesture.
